OLJ is indexed in the Web of Science (ESCI) with a Journal Citation Indicator of 1.32 and Scopus citescore of 5.7 for 2021, ranking it in the 93rd percentile of all journals in Education. OLJ is ranked among the top 3% of all open-access journals in the field of Education.

They aim to create an inclusive, participatory, and empowering educational resource.

I teach two graduate-level courses in the Educational Foundations & Research (EFR) Program. (1) EFR 535: Data Analytics and Visualization with R, which is part of the Learning Analytics Certificate. (2) EFR 511: Program and Policy Evaluation, which focuses on how to utilize research methodologies to assess the effectiveness and impact of educational programs ranging from pre-kindergarten to postsecondary levels, as well as related programs in government, nonprofit, and industry sectors pertinent to public health and policy.

I also continue to engage in mixed-methods research around open pedagogy, social media, artificial intelligence, and connections to student persistence. At present, I have two studies that are supported by grant funding from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

I teach graduate-level research methods and special education licensure courses. I also supervise pre-service student teachers in various special education settings across WI and MN. Additionally, I received grant funding to curate an OER textbook for one of my courses.

I supported the work of the Initiative for Rural Education, Equity, & Economic Development (I-REEED), a research collaborative comprised of faculty and doctoral students from the University of North Dakota. They partner with school districts in all six regions of North Dakota to study state and local level issues (e.g., teacher retention and recruitment, special education teacher shortages, dyslexia legislation, juvenile justice reform impacts, etc.) that are important to rural communities.  I assisted with grant writing, literature reviews, survey design, interviews of participants, and data analysis.​
